Jack and Lorena Martyr are life-long locals to the North West Queensland region. Jack was born and raised on the banks of the Diamantina River, located outside of Winton, Queensland. Jack is 6th generation Kombumerri - one of the nine distinct groups of the Yugambeh people of the Nerang area on the Gold Coast.
Lorena grew up on the outskirts of Julia Creek and attended boarding school in Charters Towers. Born a Lucas, Lorena's family dates back to the arrival of the First Fleet.
In 2003, the couple settled in Mount Isa to raise their family.
After 14 years in the transport industry, Jack and Lorena noticed a significant lack of locally owned and operated registered training organisations in the Mount Isa region. As it stood, all training was outsourced from the greater Brisbane area.
Recognising the importance of 'locals supporting locals', Jack and Lorena, together with Lorena's sister, Jodi, established Martyr Training Services. Originally, they started the company as driver trainers offering training across all licence types, from Car (C) to Multi-Combination (MC). Today, Martyr Training Services offers quality training in every specialised field.
The dedicated team at Martyr Training Services hail from various backgrounds, including mining and construction, health, business, and agriculture. With the help of their talented staff, Martyr Training Services has developed an exciting variety of courses that have been designed in consultation with industry experts.
Since opening in 2005, Martyr Training Services has evolved into a full-time state of the art training facility with modern training methods, offering face-to-face and online training.
To this day, Martyr Training Services remains a family-owned and operated organisation.
